The foundation of Mercura goes back after the end of World War II when a young Brussels entrepreneur started building various logistics equipment. In the 60's the company concentrates on producing trolleys in aluminium for the domestic market and added the distribution of ladders to its activities. Due to succession problems, the founder sold the company in 1996 to a Brussels financial holding company which was also active in aluminium radiators.

In 2003, Frédéric Agneessens took over the company and concentrated the operations on manufacturing aluminium trolleys for the hospitality market.
